Christian Belief
Christian life is lived in relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and in common with other Christians in the church seeking to deepen that relationship and to follow the way that Jesus taught.

For Christians God is understood and known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

-
Father - God is love, caring for creation and for every human being as God's beloved child
-
Son - God is as he has revealed himself to be in the historical person of Jesus Christ.
Jesus' life, death and resurrection holds the key to knowing and loving God, and to making sense of life, before and after death -
Holy Spirit - God is alive, loving and active today, inspiring faith, justice and truth, sustaining the life of the world, giving spiritual gifts to the church and bearing his spiritual fruit in the world, changing lives and transforming society

Vision and Mission Statement

St Peter's exists to experience, explore, and celebrate the love of God.

We do this by:

-
Gathering as a body which welcomes and celebrates human diversity
-
Helping people of any faith or none to question and discover the sacred in life
-
Valuing service, laughter and prayer, music and food, openness and struggle
-
Connecting in loving ways with Burnham people Reaching out to poor and marginalized people
We are an 'incarnational' church with a focus on three areas of ministry.

-
Discipleship: focussing on supporting our home group and establishing new home groups where discipleship is the focus
-
Reaching out into the community: focussing on making St Peter's week a week of mission
-
Worship: focussing on making our worship more welcoming and accessible

Nicene Creed, a statement of belief

Within the Anglican Church, of which the Church of England is one of 44 self-governing member churches, the Nicene Creed is considered as the sufficient statement of the Christian faith.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father,
who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
