Our History
It's more than a building
St Peter's Church is full of heritage, history and ambience - forms of worship have taken place here for over 800 years and that energy within the building is palpable.
From the history of the site itself to the long tradition of bell ringing, the many memorials in our churchyard, and the trees themselves;
St Peter's is living history.
Appreciated, nurtured, respected; we are very aware of all that has gone before, and the living history all around us.
On this page you will find buttons which link to pages containing
the brief history of St Peter's in About Us,
a look inside the church,
the memorials outside in the churchyard plus a churchyard tree trail that you can take.
Please let us know if there are any other areas of St Peter's history that you would like to know about.
Book of History
Written by a former churchwarden - Mr Roy Almond - his grandson - Mr A Jarvis - has given permission for us to share this with our website visitors.
A book entitled "The Parish of St Peter, Burnham" was published and it includes some excellent old photographs, details of the church, and it's history.
To read the document, click the PDF below and we hope you enjoy it.
