St Peter's Church in Burnham is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to visitors.

We believe that all visitors, regardless of their abilities, should be able to access the same information with ease and enjoyment.

Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on 20th June 2025

We at St Peter's Church, Burnham, are continually working to make our new website more accessible to

all of our visitors.  We are trying to reach a comprehensive balance; enabling interesting and dynamic content which is visually appealing, yet make it individually adjustable and readable for visitors who may have additional requirements.

What website accessibility is

An accessible website allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same - or a similar level - of ease and enjoyment as other visitors.

This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating (Wix), and through assistive technologies such as add-on apps which will be added by St Peter's website team whenever possible.

These adjustments should operate as desired with no major impact on the visual pleasure and core structure when accessing the website.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We have adapted this site with the potential needs of our visitors in mind; people who may have additional requirements for them to access the information provided.

As part of this effort, we have also:

  • chosen to use an Accessibility Tool to find and fix potential access or readability issues.  This will allow individual visitors to adjust the site using an application tool - this tool will be added to the Footer of the pages in August 2025

  • Used a font that is one of the web fonts recommended for accessibility - Avenir

  • Defined clear heading structures, with titles and information, on all of the site’s pages

  • Added alternative text to images if needed or where possible (this is an ongoing work in progress)

  • Implemented colour combinations that meet suggested colour contrast definitions

  • Considered the use of motion on the site - selected slideshows, images, text and animations; many have been removed or un-animated for ease of access

  • Considered the use of videos, audio, and files on the site - making it clearer and easily accessible where possible
