St Peter's Church
Cornerstone is the extension that was added to St Peter's Church in 1986.
It houses the church office where bookings for baptisms, weddings and funerals are managed and other material such as the weekly "Pew Leaflet" news letter are produced. The office is open Monday to Friday 09:30 - 12:30 and on Thursdays between 18:00 and 19:30 for the Clergy Surgery when the vicar is available to handle Wedding and other enquiries.
St Peter's, with Cornerstone (the award winning extension built onto the north east corner of the church), provides a focal point in the community and works to meet the needs of the local area.
This website aims to provide outreach to the community as well as keeping the congregation in touch with the day to day running of the church.
Cornerstone is used by the local community for a wide range of activities such as Girls Brigade, Art Club, Friendly Bombs (a local drama group for disabled adults), Mothers and Toddlers, Dance and Handbells. Cornerstone is more than a church hall; it is a hugely valuable resource for contact with many of the most vulnerable people in our community.
During weekdays (Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm), volunteers provide refreshments and a welcome for people who wish to drop in to talk. The church is also open for visitors and for prayer. A number of people regularly use the church as a quiet space during the week.
Being the body of Christ in this place, at this time, gives us the resources to go out and be 'salt' and 'light' in the community and in our places of work.
We are called to be Christ to one another bearing one another's burdens and supporting and comforting each other in times of need.
