Baptism
Baptism is the way we join the Christian family and
recognise that God is in control of our lives.
In the Church of England we baptise infants, children or
adults - it does not matter about your age when you are
baptised. If a child is too young to know what is going on,
then the parents and Godparents make promises on
the child's behalf to bring the infant up as a Christian.
If you are interested in Baptism for yourself or your
child a telephone call to the office (B. 664338) will give
you more details and a family visitor will arrange to visit
you at home. Baptisms are usually held at 12 noon, on the
first and third Sunday of the month.
We also ask families to join us on a Sunday afternoon
sometime before the baptism when parents, children and godparents can
see the promises and commitments they are making.

baptism please contact the

Thanksgiving for the gift of a child
A Thanksgiving service allows families to thank God for
the gift of a child. In the service we give the child his or
her name and ask God's blessing on the child. Parents choose
special friends to support them, and during the service the
supporting friends promise to do all they can to help and
encourage the parents and child.
If you would like to know more about
services of Thanksgiving please contact the
Cornerstone
office.
Confirmation
If we want to take on the promises made for us by our
Godparents, Confirmation is the next step. You can be
confirmed at any age after about 11 or 12 years. Normally
you will attend a series of group meetings at which we
explore and discuss the Christian faith, and what it means
to be a Christian. These groups come together when there is
a demand. Contact
Cornerstone
for more detail.
