Some of the St Peter's congregationSt Peter's church in Burnham is a fellowship of people who are called to continue the work of Jesus Christ in Burnham today.

Our purpose is to explore, experience and celebrate the love of God.

Our belonging to the body of Christ at St. Peter's resources us to go out and be 'salt' and 'light' in the community and in our places of work.

This web site tells you who we are, how we worship, about opportunities for friendship, learning and practical work, and also how to contact us.

You can come into Cornerstone for coffee between 10:00 and 16:00 every weekday and if you would like to speak to a member of the clergy come into Cornerstone on Tuesdays between 12.30 - 14:30.

Here’s a prayer as we celebrate Ascension day. I hope it will help you focus on the reality of what Ascension can mean for us, living as Christians in today’s world.

When we stand gazing upwards, bring us down to earth: with the love of a friend through the songs of the sorrowing in the faces of the hungry.

When we look to you for action, demand some work from us, by your touch of fire your glance of reproof your fearful longing.

As ruler over all: love us into action; fire us with your zeal; enrich us with your grace to make us willing subjects of your rule.

Bible reading for Friday 9th May, 2008

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to hisfaith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. Romans 12:3-8 NIV®
